Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, is known as Dashmesh Pita — the Father of the Khalsa. He was born on 22nd December 1666 in Patna Sahib, India, to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Mata Gujri Ji.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji was not only a great spiritual leader but also a warrior, poet, and philosopher. He dedicated his entire life to protecting truth, justice, and faith. Guru Ji taught the world to live with courage, compassion, and equality.
In 1699, on the holy day of Vaisakhi, Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth at Anandpur Sahib. He gave the Sikhs their unique identity — the Five Ks (Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kachera, and Kirpan) — and inspired them to live with discipline and devotion.
Guru Ji always stood for righteousness and fought against injustice. He sacrificed his own four sons (Sahibzaade) and still remained strong in faith, showing the highest example of bravery and love for Waheguru.
He also completed the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, declaring it as the Eternal Guru for all Sikhs. Before leaving his physical form in 1708 at Nanded Sahib, Guru Ji blessed the Sikhs with the words:
“Guru Granth Sahib Ji is now your eternal Guru. Whoever follows its teachings will find me there.”
The life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji continue to guide us every day — teaching us to live with truth, courage, humility, and love. At Gurudwara Shree Dashmesh Darbar, we follow his path and share his message of peace, unity, and service to humanity.
Sikh Dharam (Sikhism) is a faith based on truth, equality, love, and service to humanity. It was founded by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the 15th century and guided by nine Gurus after him. Sikhism teaches us to believe in one God — Waheguru, to live honestly, to share with others, and to remember God’s name in all we do.
Sikh Dharam rejects discrimination, caste, and injustice. It inspires everyone to live a life of humility, courage, and compassion. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture of Sikhs, contains the divine teachings of the Gurus and saints from different faiths — showing that all humans are one.
The Tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Dashmesh Pita), gave the Sikh community a strong spiritual and moral foundation. He created the Khalsa Panth in 1699, giving Sikhs their identity and the spirit of bravery and selfless service. Guru Ji taught us to protect the weak, stand for truth, and live fearlessly while staying humble before Waheguru.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji also declared the Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the Eternal Guru of the Sikhs, saying:
“Sab Sikhan ko hukam hai, Guru manyo Granth.”
(It is the command to all Sikhs: accept the Granth as your Guru.)
At Gurudwara Shree Dashmesh Darbar, we follow the teachings of the Gurus by spreading peace, love, and unity among all. Through daily prayers, Kirtan, Sukhmani Sahib Path, and Langar Seva, we keep alive the message of Sikh Dharam — to serve humanity and remember Waheguru with a purr
The Ten Sikh Gurus are the divine teachers who guided humanity on the path of truth, love, equality, and devotion to God. Through their lives and teachings, they showed us how to live with courage, humility, and compassion. Each Guru carried forward the light of Waheguru and built the foundation of Sikh Dharam.
